The U12 Girls Roswell Santos Lightning team completed a successful season of soccer by winning the Academy State Cup. They advanced to the final in round robin play where they scored 7 goals and yielded only 2. The final match, against the tough Tophat Gold girls, went to overtime tied 1 - 1, and the Santos scored the winning goal with about 2 minutes to play.
Other highlights of their season included a win at the RBC Cup in Greenville in the fall, defeating AFU Elite 4 - 1 in the final; a 1-1-1 record at their first CASL tournament while competing in the top bracket as well as an appearance in the Vulcan Cup U12 final, again at the top level of competition. They also went undefeated in state play all year, yielding only one goal the entire spring season.
The Santos U12 girls look forward to the transition to 11v11 and the opportunity to match up with the top teams in Georgia and in the region. Coach Mark Lomas will continue to train and coach this hard working team as they expand their roster from both within and outside of the club.
