ROSWELL SOCCER CLUB ACADEMY INFORMATION

ROSWELL, 2009 - 2010

Academy soccer was introduced by GYSA as a small sided developmental program for U10, U11 and U12 players.  The emphasis of the Academy is on individual player development.  At this age it is extremely important for players to master the skills and fundamentals needed to progress in select soccer at the older ages.  Winning games is not the focus of the Academy and while games will be played, no standings will be kept throughout the season.

Typically the Academy groups are comprised of 3-4 teams’ worth of players (27 – 36 players).  All the players will be practicing at the same fields and times each week.  The players will be split into separate teams for the games and some practices.  U10 teams play 6v6 and U11 & U12 teams play 8v8.  Practices will be run by a Head Coach and Assistant Coaches. Each team will have their own professional Coach at the games each weekend.

TIME:

  • Academy soccer is a One Year Commitment (both fall and spring seasons)
  • Season runs from late July - mid-November (fall season), early February – end-May (spring season) with the possibility off-season practices
  • 2 practices / week (1.5 hours each)
  • Clinics available on 1 or 2 weeknights and may be required for certain players
  • 1 – 2 games / weekend – usually Saturdays, but some Sunday afternoons
  • 3 – 5 tournaments per year (full weekends, 3 – 5 games over 2 days)
  • Mandatory Summer Preseason Cam p– 1 week, 2 hrs a day ( Cam ps will be held either, 7/28-8/1 or 8/4-8/8)
  • Volunteer assignments of about 10 hours a season will be required for Club events/needs

The expectation is that the player will attend the majority of practices and games with exceptions for illness, family events or school activities.  Coaches need to be notified in advance if you will miss anything.

FINANCIAL:

  • Academy Program fee: $330 per season
  • Roswell Soccer Club Membership: $75 per family / per season (must be paid w/ youngest sibling)
  • Tournaments: $50- $80 per season
  • Misc. team fees: roughly $25 per season (includes callingpost, coach gift/party, supplies, etc…)
  • City of Roswell fee: $78 (resident) / $117 (Non-resident) per season
  • Pre Season Cam p: $110 per player. This must be paid regardless of participation. The pre season camp fee includes 2 practice t-shirts.
  • Uniform:  $136 for uniform and bag, $64 extra for warm-ups
  • Total Fees:  $658-$737 - per season, includes pre season camp but uniform is extra

Fees are typically collected at the beginning of each season, in full, or split into 2 or 3 payments/season.  Checks are the preferable payment method. All financial obligations must be met for the entire year commitment before transfer forms will be signed after the fall season.  All players are required to pay for spring training fees, club fees, and all other team fees in order to fulfill all financial obligations for the year.  Any excess Academy Program fees, after payment of the trainers for the season, will be given to the Roswell Soccer Club to be put back into the Academy Program.
